Play ADK is seeking a part-time Family Center Coordinator based at Play ADK’s Main Street Clubhouse in Saranac Lake, NY.

Playgroups promote the well-being of families by connecting adults, children and families to one another and to community while engaging in developmentally appropriate play-based learning experiences. Playgroups are open to all families with children ages 0-4. Caregivers and their children attend groups together to learn more about resources, parenting, developmentally appropriate activities, and to enjoy the company of other families.

Play ADK is a children’s museum and family center focused on providing opportunities for open-ended, imaginative play for young children and their families through interactive exhibits, programs, and resources. Play ADK’s mission is to help children grow through play.


  • Organize and lead weekly parent-child playgroups 4-5 days per week
  • Maintain attendance, registration, and other forms
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming space
  • Represent Play ADK to families, partners, and funders including sharing information about the project and capital campaign
  • Manage merchandise sales through Square POS
  • Assist with media outreach as related to playgroups, including social media
  • Assist in coordinating developmental screenings


  • Strong leadership skills and comfortable leading activities in front of a group 
  • Able to create a warm and welcoming environment for diverse families 
  • Knowledge of typical early childhood development 
  • Can be a resource for parents by coaching, modeling and giving advice 

An Ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in early childhood education, parenting programs, public health, or social work
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers or families with young children 
  • Experience working with ethnically and economically diverse communities 
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with others (individuals and agencies)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
